10.4.09

well had masters again on wednesday. another good session, lots of focus on drills and endurance. i need to keep my elbows high. managed 2.4ks so was happy with my distance. had physio again for shin splints. still not happy with them need to build strengh and bounce in legs and feet. gggrrrrrrrrr!!! had an easter egg hunt for the kids on thursday, so much fun. today has been getting yard and house cleaned up. have a 90 minute ride with my friend at 6am tomorrow... i know 6 am who does that? mushy does thats who and seeing as shes my coach/mentor/inspiration i do now too lol. then its off to hastings for the day then to hers for tea! i havent been out on my bike for ages so will be great having her to kick me in the butt! and to use my new aeros! well thats it for today!!!

8.4.09

well had spinning last night another good session thanks anne!!! heart rate was sky high to begin with. not sure why, maybe tired or stressed? evened out during session to and average of 170 which was good. had a good nights sleep again, 8 hours. have masters swimming tonight. i have an addiction to banana muffins! im not making any more. i just eat and eat them. very dangerous!! have enlisted the assistance of a friend to get me back out on my bike too. this weekend were going out on a around 50k ride, just a nice one to get me back into it. well that it for now i think. back tomorrow

7.4.09

hello again...
well i never rode on sunday. went for a walk around the lake instead. no water in there at all so duck shooting opening weekend is looking pretty dismal at the moment. went to my mums for lunch had chicken and coleslaw rolls then tea was salmon, rice and vegies so a pretty healthy day. yesterday wasnt too bad. cereal for breakfast, omlet with leftover salmon and vegies for lunch, steak wraps for tea. a couple of homemade banana muffins and some chips for snacks (ok so they werent the best decision.) had swimming last night swam 1600mtrs.this morning was cereal for breakfast, a banana muffin and marshmallow egg for morning tea. 2 steak wraps for lunch and 6 small piklets for afternoon tea. home made sweet and sour pork planned for tea. have a 45min spin class for tonight and will walk there - about 20 mins. had a skin fold test done today. my fat % is 30 which is suprisingly in the healthy range max being 33%. my hip to waist ratio is .80 which is right on the borderline of being healthy. waist measurement is 85 being 5cm above ideal, bmi is 27, 2 over healthy and weight this morning 70.5, 6.5 over healthy. will be doing the same test in 6-8 weeks so will record differences then. im more looking and fat% than weight as it shows the difference between muscle mass and fat mass. weight may not move but as long as this decreases ill be happy. also aiming to reduce waist measurement to below 80 being the healthy measure. well thats it fortoday!!!!! c u 2morro

5.4.09

well here we are again... friday was pretty good. ate well. had a couple of treats but nothing major. had a good sleep the night before so that helped too i think. mowed the lawns and did some gardening. saturday was good too. went to a friends to help set up for her new baby, lots of moving furniature and decorating lots of fun. bit of a naughty night tho. went to the stockcars so lots of chippies and lollies and chicken and chips 4 tea... nevermind. today ive got out salmon for tea yum yum. and am going to go out for a ride later. im planning about 2 hours give or take. weighd yesterday morning 69.5kg. aim for today is to drink lots of water and eat more fruit. well thats it, back tomorrow

im back

ok so its been over a month since i last checked in but im back. ive been plagued with shin splints and therefor not had any motivation what so ever. in fact today is lowest of low. ive done nothing but eat! i am very tired though (thats not an exuse but its not exactly helping) have got out steak and heaps of vegies for tea tho. im not saying tomorrow is another day... this afternoon is another afternoon! and ill do spinning tonight then have an early night. also ive left weight watchers. i wasnt sticking to it and was still loosing weight so im going to use this and a free exercise tracking site as my tools now and save some $$ for half ironman in the process. ill be using this daily now, have even made it my homepage to encourage me, weekends i may miss tho dont tend to get to the comp over them. so thats it for today! c u tomorrow!!!!!

22.2.09

well i havent made it one here for a couple of weeks. my last post was just after getting tomy 5% mark, we have since gained a kilo, but well start with a comentry of that week. after being sick the week before i thought id have a rest week and only train once a day, 10th i was ment to have bats but it rained so instead i span in the shed. wednesday i had masters swimming. swam 1900m was good to be back at masters having a set programme not just going round and round the pond. thursday ws my birthday so i went on a 7k run knowing food wouldnt be my friend, i have started taking a friends dog wich help keep ur pace up ive discovered. friday was off as usual. as was saturday as i decided to go shopping with my birthday money (as u do) sunday we went to the races to watch my inlawa horse race. lots of walking about in high heels but lots of crappy food too. so then comes mondays weigh in and as expected i gained a kilo. i was dissapointed with myself but i know it would happen and was prepared. this week is a 2 session a day week. monday i ran 7k then swam that night at masters. 1700 i think. tuesday i ran 7k in the morning and span 46mins at night. wednesday i ran just over 9ks then had masters at night 1700 again. thursday i went for an hours walk as my shins are sore and im paranoid about shin splints as im prone to them. heres when we go downhill again, after carefully planning food and training for the week my dick of a neighbour puts a spanner in it all and comes over to MY house to try hit on me making me feel really pissed off, nervous, scared, and completely stupid for inviting him for a coffee (we were friends at school, he is now married and i am engaged) so i dont end up training that night feeling like crap. friday i work from a friends not wanting to be home alone, so we have chicken and ships for lunch, i walk home (not far at all) partner is still in wellington getting a dog so he brings me cheeseburger and chicken nuggets for tea (oh god this isnt going well) then saturday i have a good lunch i think but when working out points its 9 points (eek) then we go housework and yardwork and training goes out the window, to my parents for tea and that goes ok except i cant help have some more potato salad and another chop. then they bring out a cheesecake!!! so today im on damege control. a 13k run (about 90mins) and a 30 min swim limited diet for the day will leave me saving 17 points. hopefully i dont put on, im not hoping for a loss but to not gain would be good. so thats my last 2 weeks, lets hope the next 2 work out better

10.2.09

well this week has had its ups and downs. it starts with last tuesday. went for a 5k run in the morning. that went well, then bats that night was really good. i stayed with the lead palaton almost the whole ride (a big achievment for me) then just before the worst hill on course i took my turn at lead except the git to rotate nest didnt so i was left to drag the pack for way too long and was dropped at the hill. ended up coming 13th time wise was a good ride but the fact i was dropped like that was gutting. i need to do hill work. tonight my mission is todo just as well if not better. then wednesday morning went out for a 5k run got home and felt sick, this feeling got worse through the day till at 2 i finally gave in and got the kids picked up early. spent thursday relaxing too, wasnt physically sick just felt aweful. friday was fine again but kept it as my off day to make sure i was right and just painted our room. saturday went for a 30k hilly ride very hot but good tho. sunday i did nothing (oops) just got our rooms organised and all the furniature moved back in. yesterday swam 20 mins and walked 1.5 hours. HAD WEIGH IN AND HAVE FINALLYV MET 5% LOST 1.8KGS about blimen time!!! today is bats again tonight. having an easy training week just one session a day this week as sort of recovery. back to 2 times next week. well thats it for now!!!

3.2.09

well its already february, 10 months to go!
im getting really pissed with trying to manage earning and spending points gggrrrrr gained 400 this week. did have kfc one night and chicken nuggets and chips another but seriously im sure i should be doing better that this i almost cried at weigh in last night!!
so since last week ive been pretty good with the training etc. thursday night i did go out for my run and did well. friday was off and so was saturday. sunday was the triathlon. the weather was horrible. i terrible wind with 36 degree heat not cool by any means. did it in 59:20 and came 14th tho so still didnt do too badly. monday was a 600mtr recovery swim and this morning was a 5k run and tonight a 30k ride with bats. eating is on track with the new eat 16 points after exercise (take ur allowance and minus points for the day. take this amount and add sufficient to make 16 points total. eat this number. today i need to eat 30.5 points! i know this sounds alot but a few have said this works so ill give it a week. had an 8.5 point breakfast haha 2 eggs scrambled with a little milk. 2 rashers of bacon, a piece of grainy toast and some mushrooms. yum yum and im still full 4 hours later. god i hope this works. well thats it for now!!

29.1.09

hello hello
well looking back at my last post ive realised i say alot then dont end up doing it. the saturday session is what im refering to here it never got done. i did however do the 50k tour de beautiful did it in 1:46 6th out of 13. very happy with my time. am glad i did that and not the 100k i was going to do the temps got upto 36 degrees yucky!!!
this weeks gone well. monday was the usual recovery swim. swam 1hr. cant remember the distance. tuesday i also swam 1.5ks this time. was ment to have bats but the weather turned to poop so had the night at home doing book work yesterday was ment to run in the morning but didnt (this is becoming a bad habit) walked and hour with the kids tho then swam last night 2.1ks in the open water. this morning swam 550mtrs. am going for an 8k run tonight AND I WILL THIS TIME. have my last short distance tri this weekend. not looking forward to it tho, they seem kind of pointless swimming 300 mtrs now im regularly swimming upwards of 1.5ks 4 times a week. weight has not changed this week. this is good tho as i did have a couple of naughty moments last week and sundays eating was all up the kaka with the ride and the heat making me not want anything to eat wich my body probably saw a being starved. so overall am happy with the weeks progress just have tore motivate for these training sessions. well tummy is rumbling now so will go have breakfast

23.1.09

sorry its been a while i havent had alot of spare time on my hands. so last saturday was my 1st long distance tri and i dont think i did too bad. i came in just under an hour and a half - 1:29:07 to be exact so i was pretty happy with that. still alot of room for improvment but for the first one i was happy. monday i ended up not having to work wich was also really nice so i went to the pools and swam 1km then went out for a 5k run. weigh in was a little better than last with a loss of 600g. tuesday was another swim in the morning only did 900 mtrs as i was helping my mother out down there so got distracted. then bats at night 1:06 over the windiest 28k course i have on record so happy there too. wednesday morning off then open water swimming in the evening swam 1.5ks. yesterday and today off then tomorrow a 20k easy ride and 1k swim in prep for 50k ride on sunday. eating still ok, this week on weds had a homemade burger for lunch then 1/2 a small punnet of chinese for tea. also a cookie time and small bag of grain waves. yesterday was a bit naughty during the day, a couple of biscuits and soome chips but lots ove fruit and veg for t. back on track today. need to up the water again too. well will post again after weigh in on monday night!!

17.1.09

this week hasnt been the best for training. monday was all geared up to go for a run but mum turned up and stayed for tea so ended up missing it. tuesday was bats and the weather turned to crap so i jumped on the wind trainer and did 90 mins on there. wednesday was swimming. went to the pond and did 2.25ks there wich was great. thursday missed my run again - im finding this heat is making me lethargic. i did however walk an hour and take kids swimming so was at least active. friday off, today ill go for a 3k run and tomorrow is my 1st long distance.
food wise ive not counted a thing. instead tried to just be good and make wise choices. this counting points thing is hard when ur training so much. i only lost 400 last week which really got me down. so monday will show. got a new heart rate monitor yesterday so that will help out with intensiry etc too.
must be off going to paint now!!

12.1.09

well its weigh in day again today and am hoping for another good loss. have saved over 20 points this week (half of what ive earned. i think the key with all the training is not to save too many points) so well see later how my plan has gone. did the run on friday afternoon in the heat and the sweat was piddling off. i figure half ironman could chuck any weather condition at me so i may as well train in the afternoon as i do now and prepare my body for all sorts of conditions and just monitor my fluid intakes to suit. saturday i did a full rehersal of next weekends triathlon 750 swim, 21k ride and 4.5k run. all went well and did it in 1hr36 i plan to complete it in about 10 mins faster than this on sunday (fingers crossed) as we mucked around abit in our 'transitions' so we'll see. then on sunday i went for a 20min walk to the pools and intended to swim for an hour but i got stuck talking and ended up wasting almost 45 mins so ended up doing a mere 500mtrs. wes pretty pissed at myself for letting that happen but at least i made it down there. and have frained everyday this week as planned normally i miss sessions left right and centre. not now new start new me!! am doing another 8k run tonight too. will record weight loss tomorrow!! hopefully the scales like me this week, ive discovered one thing through my journey and that is training messes with weight loss! too much food one minute so u gain then not enough then u still gain as ur body holds all its stores! utter confusion aaahhh well its all part of the journey!!

8.1.09

well this week has gone really well so far. tuesday night was the first ride for the year and did it 3mins faster than last year so stocked with that. then last night was swimming. our coach got held up so we just had a swim instead of focusing on drills. did about 800 meters. today went for an hour walk with the kids again then was ment to go for a run this afternoon but the temp is 32 degrees so im going to get up and go early tomorrow morning. i think i might have to make all my runs at this time. so tomorrow will be run day this week instead of rest day. tracking is going really well am staying either within my base boints or within bonus every day its only thursday and ive saved 15 points so far which might come in handy this weekend going to my partners cousins for a run through of next weekends tri and a bbq so its nice knowing i dont have to be too strict on myself. well thats it for now

6.1.09

well im pleased to announce i lost 1.8kgs last night. am extreamly happy with this as it almost cancels out last week. i have been very careful to drink all my water and am feeling better for that too, and am just trying to be healthier in general. today for lunch i had smoked hoki just heated up in the over and a mix of mushrooms, red onion, tomato, parsley and capsicum sauted in water. was very good and filled me up really well. for the first time since being back at ww i have ticked off all the boxes in the 'amount you should consume' boxes (fruit, dairy, veg etc) i think this is going to be the key to my weight loss being healthy not just sticking to points. got my time for my triathlon on the weekend, 46mins. not too happy with this as last year i was 1 and half mins faster but thet was as a team where i biked and ran but not swim so i guess i cant really compare too much. 5am wake ups arent too bad either at the moment. i must say life just feels alot better after my break. i was very tired and stressed at the end of last year and the holiday seems to have fixed alot. training for today is first bats ride for the year. 28ks so will take around an hour and i also took the kiddies for an hour walk to town and back wich they enjoyed. well thats it for today!!

5.1.09 omg its 09

right so a very busy festive season has lead to a couple of things:
1. ive not been able to get near the comp over the last 1.5 weeks!
2. ive gained 2.2kgs in 1 week!!
3. things need to change starting today!!!

so training was next to none over the break. i did a 75om swim then straight out to a 25k ride. i think that was about it apart from walking around. but i did eat. way too much and too much crap. and not only did it show on the scales but also my mood and fitness levels and overall feeling. i felt like crap. this is just what i needed too. because ive felt like crud from the excess fat and sugar ive made a more concious effort. so weigh in is tonight and im really hoping for a loss anything will do.
im also drinking water instead of coke. because coke zero is no 'points' i generally live on it so in my mission i am drinking 3litres of water a day. so far its been ok. then i have a coffee in the morning and a coke with tea thats it. rest of the time water. this should also help with my training. had a tri yesterday and am unsure of time yet (prob wont be up till wednesday) i felt i had a good race, times will show if im right or not.
